Every year, families across our region make the courageous decision to leave unsafe homes in search of something every child deserves — security, stability and peace.
Many arrive with very little. Some with only what they can carry.
AberNecessities supports more than 130 families each year who are fleeing domestic abuse, helping them take their first steps towards a safer future.
Hero exists to stand beside them at that moment of change.
The campaign
Hero is our annual campaign supporting parents and children as they begin again after domestic abuse.
Working closely with Grampian Women’s Aid, we provide carefully prepared Fresh Start packs to families entering refuge or moving into new accommodation — ensuring they have the essentials needed to settle safely and with dignity.
Each pack may include:
New clothing and shoes
Pyjamas and everyday essentials
Activities, books and comfort items for children
Toiletries and personal care items
Small household appliances
Beds, bedding, towels and home essentials
Every item is new. Chosen thoughtfully. Given with care.
Because when everything familiar has been left behind, the smallest things can bring the greatest reassurance.
